Sharing Space

I can't get enough of these too. They are little buddies now and it is so fun to watch the way they share space in our home. The way Addie can sense when Dexter is about to do something bad or swipe(Dora anyone?) something of hers, is quite impressive. Yet, at other moments she is so quick to care for him and cheer him up! Dexter thinks Addie is just about as good as it gets. He is anxious for her to wake up and doesn't seem to mind how she dictates most of what he plays with. They are quite the pair!

We just celebrated Addie's 3rd birthday. I can't believe we have a 3 year old! How did that happen? We are so blessed by our caring, spunky, fun loving girl. She is truly a gift from God! Happy Birthday sweet Adeline!

PS Don't you love Dex's new smile for the camera!

One of my favorite weddings this season is up on Style Me Pretty! Head on over and check it out.
Thanks Audrey & Dave for letting me be part of your special day.

Roller Coaster Called Motherhood

I am blessed, but it is so easy to loose sight of that. 24/7 I spend with this little babes and my world is completely involved in their needs and wants. It is thick with highs and lows. They can be experiencing giggles with the cousins one moment and then feeling sick as a dog the next moment. They can be playing with our new wagon and then slip and get a huge goose egg. I think it is hard to stay focused in those moments. It is easy to get swept up in the extremes of emotions these little ones go through and as a stay at home mom, it is very hard work to stay balanced through it all.

Motherhood has shown me such joy and such sadness. Surprisingly though, I am not as emotional as I use to be. I am one of four sisters and I was always coined the "worrier" for the family. I could cry at the drop of a hat and always carried such anxiety and worry on my shoulders. Don't get me wrong, I still am great
at worrying about my babies and having a good cry fest once and awhile, but overall I feel motherhood as trained me to be more balanced.

My days are long and often lacking in adult interaction. I know that if I let myself ride the roller coaster of emotions that my kids go through, I will not make it through the day. I find myself striving to create a calm in our lives. To breathe in an out and not let all those crazy moments get the best of me. I know the power I have in these children's lives and I don't  take that lightly. The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down (Prov 14:1). It is a daily choice and I don't always choose it daily, but that's life, right? Oh, that we would continue to crave growth and change!

On this rainy Wednesday...

Addie & Dex slept in till 6!
We got a sweet hour with Alex before he left on a work trip.
Dex ate his whole bowl of oatmeal, his banana, and half of my oatmeal.
Addie actually ate cereal instead of her normal request, peanut butter toast.
Alex stuck to peanut butter toast. They both can't live with out it.
Dex headed back to bed to sneak in a quick nap before heading out.
I managed to shower, but left the house with wet hair. Again.
Addie got in some Diego TV while I showered.
Addie then gave me a mini lesson on Humpback whales. Good ole Diego the animal rescuer.
Experienced some great fellowship at church.
Addie made sure to look out for her favorite Long Tree (aka Willow) to and from church.
Gobbled up leftovers after we made it home.
Waited for Addie & Dex to fall asleep, then dashed downstairs to get in a run.
Promptly dashed back upstairs after my run, as I heard a chipmunk get stuck in our dryer vent.
Put a hold request at the library for a new book. Left to Tell by Immaculee Ilibagiza.
Packed some more for a visit to my Mom's this weekend.
Struggled all day to get a bottle of Kombucha open. Finally got it open at 3 o'clock.
Dex pulled ever single puzzle down off the shelf. Mess.
Addie put all the puzzles back together. Teamwork.
We finished our second gallon of whole milk this week. That's another love our kids get from their father.
Addie put a pair of socks over her tights. Time to get some bigger slipper socks.
Dex walked all over the house with his new little walker wagon.
Addie put about 10 things on Dexter's head today. Only one of which was actually a hat.
Wrapped cousin Beano's birthday presents, while playing with stamps.
Read My Lucky Day to Addie for about the 100th time.
Filled Alex in on our day over the phone.
Popped some popcorn.
Watched Survivor & Modern family without Alex. Not half as good without him to watch with me.
Finished a bid for a new bride.
Finished knitting a squishy ball for a dear friend of mine. So excited she is going to be a mom super soon!
Showered and this time I actually dried my hair.

I want to capture these moments. My days are long, but these years are going fast. Sweet little Dexter is one and my baby girl will be three in November. Time is escaping us. Oh how I love my little ones and I want to be present for each and every moment.

PS Addie loves to stage photos (I wonder where she learned that?!) like the ones above. Dexter, on the other hand, still prefers to stare at lawn mowers across the street.
