Super Bowl

(More bow tutorials will come, but we must break for this special weekend event. Don't worry Janell, I'll get you more Bow posts!)

So this is how I gear up for the Super Bowl..

Apron. check.
I am a big fan of the Super Bowl, but probably not for the same reasons as most. A day marked with lots of unhealthy food and good commercials (well at least a few good commercials). I'm in!

It has also become a tradition to spend the weekend with one of my sisters and her family. I believe this will be the 4th Super Bowl with Team Rawlins. An old friend and his lovely new wife will also be joining us. Good times.

This said sister and I are also both addicted to Pinterest. Sunday will be full of new Pinterest recipes. Below is one Steph suggested. Continue reading if you want to gain a pound reading. This is clearly the most unhealthy thing I think I have ever baked! Of course one cookie broke as I was removing it from the pan, so Addie and I had a little taste. They are yummy yummy! I think they will be a big hit with the Hubster. He is a lover of all things Peanut Butter and also Reese's Pieces. Addie is just like her Paps in that department.

So onto that recipe. I tweaked a few things from the original recipe. I think if I made them again I would also make only half of the topping. I had quite a bit extra.

Reese's Peanut Butter Cookies

Cookie Dough:
3/4 C. butter, softened
1 C. peanut butter
1 C. granulated sugar
1/2 C. packed dark brown sugar
2 eggs
1 T. vanilla
2 1/2 C. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 C. chocolate chips
1 C. Reeses Pieces

Filling:
3/4 C. peanut butter
1/3 C. packed dark brown sugar
1/2 C. sweetened condensed milk
2 T. light corn syrup
1/4 C. butter, softened

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a mixing bowl, cream butter, peanut butter, and sugars; blend well. Mix in eggs and vanilla. Fold in flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Fold in chocolate chips and Reeses Pieces. In a separate bowl, mix filling ingredients until blended.

Form a ball of dough; gently press on the cookie balls to flatten slightly. Place a spoonful of filling on top.

Bake for 12-15 minutes. Let cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes then transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling.

(and this is the reason Addie didn't help me bake. she would have lost all interest the second she saw this bag)

We are also going to be having puppy chow, feta dip with a baguette, pretzel bites and cheese, guacamole and chips, and apples and cream cheese fluff. I can't wait!! What are you going to make?
